Q.2. Answer the given questions in one hundred words each:
1.What did Lencho write in his first letter and why?
Ans. In his first letter to God Lencho wrote to God to help him because his family would die of hunger. He had lost all his crops in a hail of strom. So he needed a hundred pesos to resow the field and to live until the crops came.
2."The post office employees are a bunch of crooks," what does this line imply?
Ans. Once there lived a poor simple hearted farmer. His name was Lencho. Once due to hailstorm his crops failed and so he and his family came to the brink of starvation. Poor fellow wrote a letter to God, as he thought that only God could help him in such a miserable candition. Thus he demanded only 100 pesos from God.
Seeing his letter, the postmaster was filled with pity and laughed at the simplicity of the poor farmer. Any how he collected a sum of 75 pesos and sent them to the farmer. Seeing the money, poor farmer became pleased and thanked God. But he felt that God could not have sent less than the demand. He blamed the post office people for the same and called them as a bunch of crooks who had stolen his money. It is indeed a paradox that in spite of the help given they were blamed. That is why people say that kindness without understanding is worthless.
3.Explain the act of goodness shown by the postmaster.
Ans. The postmaster was a fat amiable fellow. He did not want Lencho to loose faith in God as it was an extra-ordinary one which everybody did not possess. So he himself gave a part of his salary and asked his employees to give something for this act of elarity. He even approached his friends and convinced them to contribute for Lencho's cause. He collected around seventy pesos out of hundred which Lencho had demanded from God.
